"The Faithful Knight of Magic"

What is the 'Faithful Knight of Magic' and who has received the title?

"The Faithful Knight of Magic" is an honorary title awarded by the Nordic Magic Union (Nordisk Magi-Union).
It is given to:

"A magician who has participated in the Nordic Magic Congresses for several years and worked for the advancement of magic."

The title has been awarded since 1971, although not every year — some years had no Nordic Congress, and certain years (such as 2021) were cancelled due to circumstances like the pandemic.

The Nordic Magic Union consists of the following organisations:

  • Svensk Magisk Cirkel
  • Göteborgs Magiska Klubb
  • Örebro Magiska Klubb
  • Moderna Illusionisters Cirkel
  • Taikapiiri
  • Finska Magikerklubben
  • Magisk Cirkel Danmark
  • Magiske Cirkel Norge
  • Den Magiske Ring Oslo

Whenever possible, one new Knight is appointed at each Nordic Congress.

To date, approximately 50 magicians have received the title.
Of these, 17 are Swedish, and 27 names are currently documented.
However, many names — especially from Norway, Denmark, and Finland — are still missing from the historical record.

Anyone with information, photos, film material, or a picture of the original leather diploma is encouraged to contact:

"The Faithful Knight of Magic" is an honorary title awarded by the Nordic Magic Union and given to

The NMU consists of:

Whenever possible, the Nordic Magic Union shall appoint a "Faithful Knight of Magic" at each Nordic Congress, selecting a person who has participated in the congresses and contributed to the art of magic.

Of all the knights, we currently have names and information for 27. Only 17 of the total 50 knights appointed between 1971–2021 are Swedish. Some years there was no Nordic Congress, and 2021 was most likely cancelled due to the pandemic.

We are missing names and years for those from Norway, Denmark, and Finland who have received this distinction over the years.
If you have information about any name and the year they were appointed, please write to me with as much detail as possible. Photos and any film material are appreciated, as well as a picture of the original leather diploma.
